His love for racing began at 11 years old, Derek Kale got behind the wheel of his first go-kart and won an astonishing 12 races in his rookie year. Over the next 5 years he would pick up 2 championships, over 35 wins and a 5th place finish in points in the World Karting Association.
His success in go-karts set him up to run Late Models at Motor Mile Speedway. In his first year at the Motor Mile Speedway, Kale finished the season with 3 wins, 4 seconds, and 3 thirds in the limited sportsman division. The following year he moved on to late model stocks in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series, where he posted one pole, 2 wins and 8 top 5 finishes. His most notable late model stock accomplishment was in the 2005 Bailey's 300 at Martinsville Speed way, where 85 cars showed up to qualify for a 40 car field, and Kale who had never seen the track before, qualified 12th and went on to post an 8th place finish.
In 2006 Kale completed his first season in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series - earning 2 poles, 9 top 10 starts, 4 top 10s, Miller Lite Northern Division Rookie of the Year, and Miller Lite Overall Rookie of the Year Champion.
The last 3 years Kale as continued in the what is now known as the USARacing Pro Cup Series. In those years Kale has collected 14 top 10's, 7 top 5's and his first Pro Cup series win at Mansfield Motorsports Park in June of 2008.
Performing in the Pro Cup Series allows Kale to further enhance and develop his skills. Driving 3,300 pound 600 horsepower stock cars will give Derek the experience he needs to take the next step in his racing career.
